Many questions have been asked about the benefits of having Audio Visual technology in the classroom.

However one of the most common questions relate to visualisers.

To answer these queries we always touch upon the basic fundamental ‘what is a visualiser’?

A visualiser is a high tech document camera which has a combination of functions such as video camera, overhead projector and magnifier in one unit. This makes it hugely beneficial for schools.

Visualisers have in short opened up an area in teaching which was in the past largely impossible to achieve without a great deal of work being involved. In the past you had to transform objects that needed to be projected into digital images that can then be projected from a laptop or PC.

The benefits of having a visualiser in a teaching environment are for example:

  • Capture, record and save Images or Video’s of the lecture
  • Display objects in great detail onto whiteboard or projector
  • Teachers can use a visualiser to show how to solve a problem
  • Pupils have the ability to share their work with the rest of the class
  • Visualisers can bring a topic to life for pupils by displaying to the whole class

Simply put visualisers are a great collaborative learning tool which gives an extra dimension to how teachers can use modern technology to engage pupils and make learning fun.
